A Frozen Creek Can Be A Very Productive Fishery
Male and female brown trout can be found within the lower stretches, near the mouth, of most frozen creeks during really cold spells in January and February. Fish can be present as singles or doubles and can be mixed with a few resident steelhead. Target the deep pools, ice ledges and present your fly low and slow. The take is almost always subtle and the fight is usually a sluggish battle. You will need patience, appropriate clothing and a touch of tenacity. Target the warmest part of the day to increase your chances of hooking up. The fish will be there … and so should you! ~~ Scott Feltrinelli
