Patagonian-BaseCamp
Lodge Scrapbook
January 1-8, 2004
Scrapbook pictures from our 2004
New Year's trip to the
Patagonian-BaseCamp Lodge, near La Junta, Chile. A Travel Adventures
escorted trip.

Puerto Varas. View from our Bellavista Hotel room overlooking Lago
Llanquihue and Osorno
Volcano in the background. New restaurant, The Yacht Club, and studying
the New Year's Eve menu. Followed by fireworks and champagne by the
lakeside with the locals.

Arrival at Chaiten Airport and transfer to the Lodge. Fishing the Rio
Palena right in front of the Lodge and picture of the river early the next
morning from my room's balcony.

Horseback trip back to private lake, Lago Claro Solar, home to some very large,
cruising fish. If Andre can get one, then so can I. Our lunch spot,
and a picture of an "out-post" farm.
Archie
thinks that he as the biggest fish so far. Taken from Rio Pico. He
will soon realize this is just "standard".

Over night camping trip on the Rio Palena proves fantastic! Andre's big
fish measured at 31inches. His second was not that much smaller!
Dinner streamside before retiring to out tent. And one of many beautiful
rainbows.
Everyday
we had lunch prepared streamside. Here we are enjoying some beef
tenderloin. Todd forgot the wine glasses, so I had to drink straight from
the bottle! Absolutely beautiful rainbows; today from the lower Rosselott.
I love these beauties!
The
table is set for dinner at the Patagonian-BaseCamp Lodge. Astrid sure can
cook! And Marcel serves some fantastic Chilean wines.
Fishing
the breathtaking Rio Figero and Lago Rosselotte. The scenery here was
magnificent. Fishing was also magnificent. The picture shows one in
the boat and another on the reel. Andre and I had a lot of "doubles" on
this day.
Another picture of the Rio Palena followed by some pictures of some local
homesteads and farms. The last shot is from the plane just after departure
from Chaiten.
