The Pleasant Bay Bonefish Lodge
is located 25 minutes from the South Andros Airport (Congo Town) in the
southern section of the island and is a short distance from some
of the finest bonefishing on the planet. Literally hundreds
of square miles of bone-white flats offer guests unlimited
opportunities to challenge some of the largest yet most
cooperative bonefish anywhere. Each day, guests select to
fish nearby creeks or the vast ocean flats of the South and West
Coasts. Breakfast is early, dinner is late, and in-between
is some of the best fishing imaginable. The lodge is
peaceful, air conditioned, very clean and comforting lodge, where
excellent service awaits you.
THE FISHING: Regarded as one of
the more scenic areas on the island, the South Bight has deeper
channels and, as it is closer to the ocean, is home to some of the
larger fish in the area. Bonefish are fewer in numbers here,
but, with its combination of bone-white flats, turquoise and
emerald waters, fishing “The Bight” is a most memorable
experience.
Just moments from the lodge, Deep
Creek quickly opens to a 6-mile wide bay dotted with dozens of
small islands, or “cays”. This area is the perfect spot for
those wishing a longer day on the flats and, as it is a more
protected area, is the place to be if wind is a factor.
Again, just 5 minutes from the
lodge, Little Creek is not only a productive fishery with
limitless wading opportunities, but also connects guests to the
infinite flats of the West Coast. For those seeking more
fishing time and the option for a run to the west, Little Creek is
the perfect option.
For anglers wishing to cast to a
school of bonefish an acre in size, a visit to the South and West
Coast of South Andros is a must. In and around Water Cays,
Curly Cut, and Grassy Creek it is not uncommon to see hundreds of
bonefish in one dark mass swim closely by. This region is
regarded as the place to be if sheer numbers of fish is the goal
for the day. The ocean flats of this area stretch from
horizon to horizon, and fishing pressure is almost non-existent.
Although requiring a 45 minute boat ride, a visit to this area
should be included in your week.
Fishing is good all year long.
February and March are good, but obviously many people are looking
to get away from winter conditions. April, May and June are
excellent. July and August means hot weather.
September weather is quite changeable. October, November and
December can be excellent. |

SEASON: All year.
HOW TO GET THERE: South Andros is approximately 200
miles southeast of Miami, and 57 miles southwest of Nassau.
Western Airlines and Bahamasair each have morning and
afternoon flights from Nassau to the island that last
approximately 15 minutes. For groups as small as six
persons, we strongly recommend a private charter from Ft.
Lauderdale, at approximately the same cost.
Approximately one hour in length, a private charter is a great
deal of fun and a most scenic experience.
Upon your landing, we will have a van transport you to The
Bonefish Bay Club, a short drive from the airport. South
Andros is quite easy to reach and East Coast residents can
depart early in the morning and, by using the private charter,
be on the island early afternoon of the same day.
