Fly
Fishing Lodge Ratings
Ratings Based on Personal or Client Visits
Know Before You Go
We represent many fine lodges and outfitters around the world. Most of
these we have personally visited and fished, and returned. We offer you our
personal views of each lodge, exactly as we see it and found it. It is our
desire to give you our concierge service on every trip you take with Travel
Adventures, even if we can't be with you. You will receive all the
assistance you require for your trip, including travel arrangements (airline
and ground transfers), pre-trip information, the advantage of our personal
and objective opinion, packing lists, and more. Take advantage of our fly
fishing knowledge and travel experience with trust and confidence.
How We Keep Score
We have visited these lodges and outfitters and offer our
objective ratings, 0 to 5 (highest); NR means not rated.
The ratings are based on a 3 being about average, no
frills. Naturally a 5 is great or outstanding.
Ratings of 2 or 1 or 0 do not
necessarily mean terrible, but more likely indicate that the rated item is
limited or even non-existent.
Higher ratings for the Evening Meal are for
local cuisine, and/or well presented gourmet meals. Sandwiches and a small
drink only rate a 3 for Lunch and Snacks, but higher ratings would indicate
fresh fruit, baked goods, or even a “sit down” lunch with wine.
Ratings of 4 or 5 for a Lodge will indicate clean, modern rooms, big enough
to turn around in, and with a private bathroom. Tent camps are all rated a 1.
Higher Fishing Quality ratings are indicative of good quantity and quality of fish.
Higher ratings are given to professional, helpful, knowledgeable and courtesy Guides;
extra points when the guides provide flies and other accessories.
When there are things other than fishing, like side trips, a pool, local cultural
or historical sites and activities, or shopping nearby, then the ratings for
Non-fishing Activities and Trailing Spouse go up.
